GRAD Cincinnati presents Cincinnati Public Schools’ Superintendent Mary Ronan with its Founder’s Award at a banquet on April 14, 2016.
Superintendent Ronan has devoted her 39-year career to preparing Cincinnati’s children for success in school and beyond — in college, careers and in life. A staunch advocate of GRAD Cincinnati, Mary’s accomplishments as superintendent include attaining significant achievement gains in the district’s lowest-performing elementary schools; increasing early childhood literacy proficiency; increasing high school graduation rates; and positioning Cincinnati Public Schools to become the top-performer among Ohio’s large urban school districts.
GRAD Cincinnati is a community-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization created in 2001, with the goal of improving chances of success for urban youth. GRAD Cincinnati provides academic support to help students achieve in the classrooms, grow as individuals and community citizens, graduate from high school, and complete college educations. GRAD Cincinnati targets its support to over 3,500 students and nearly 170 teachers and principals within Cincinnati Public Schools.
