Uniform Policy

ALL AWL students (including preschool students) are required to wear a school uniform every day. If students arrive out of uniform, they will be given clean appropriate clothing to wear while at school, or their parents will be called to bring appropriate clothing.

Shirts must have a collar (like a polo, golf, or dress shirt) and be solid white, light blue, or navy blue. Students in grades 7 and 8 may also wear red collared shirts. All students may wear AWL school spirit shirts in any color. These are available for purchase in the main office.

Sweaters/sweatshirts must be solid white, light blue, navy, black, or tan. Students in grades 7 and 8 may wear red sweaters or sweatshirts.

Pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers, and dresses must be solid navy, black or tan. Students may wear navy, black, tan, or white tights/leggings ONLY under skirts/shorts—not by themselves.

All clothes must fit appropriately (no baggy or drooping pants, short shorts/skirts, low-cut shirts, etc.).

On the days they are in gym (click here to see the schedule), students must wear gym shoes, sweatpants or knee-length shorts, and t-shirts. In cold weather they may wear sweatshirts. Students may not wear jewelry in Physical Education.

Students may not wear jeans, sweatpants, hats, hoodies, flip flops, sandals, or house slippers.
