ALL AWL students (including preschool students) are required to wear a school uniform
Monday-Thursday. If students arrive out of uniform, they will be given clean and
appropriate clothing to wear while at school or their parents will be called to bring
appropriate clothing. Fridays are out of uniform, school appropriate, clothing days.
*Friday Dress Code
● Shirts must cover midriff. No crop tops.
● Shirts must have sleeves.
● Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be no more than 4 inches above the
knee.
● No holes above the knee in jeans/pants
● No profanity, inappropriate words, or pictures.
● No sagging
Shirts must have a collar (like a polo, golf, or dress shirt) and can be any solid color. All
students may wear AWL school spirit shirts in any color.
Sweaters/sweatshirts: Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 may wear sweaters or sweatshirts.
If a student chooses to wear a sweatshirt with a hood, the hood must remain down
during school hours. Logos, prints, and embossing is acceptable but must be school
appropriate.
Pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers, and dresses must be solid navy, black or tan. Students
may wear navy or black leggings. No holes or rips are permitted at any time.
All clothes must fit appropriately (no baggy or drooping pants, short shorts/skirts,
low-cut shirts, etc.).
On the days where a student has a physical education class scheduled, they must wear
gym shoes, sweatpants or knee-length shorts, and t-shirts. In cold weather they may
wear sweatshirts. Students may not wear jewelry in physical education class.
Students may not wear jeans, sweatpants, hats, hoods, flip flops, sandals, or house
slippers. Shoes must have a back or ankle strap. Middle School students have been
asked not to wear Crocs because they are often worn inappropriately for school.
No excessive or distracting headwear including bandanas, large flowers, animal ears,
excessive headbands, baseball caps, bonnets, and bows. If worn, these will be collected
and given to the office
All purses should be kept in their locked locker or in their backpack. Lunch boxes must
be kept in lockers or cubbies throughout the day. If they are on your body or visible
during school hours (including lunch and recess), they will be taken and returned at the
end of the day.
